Weekends, man, right? How eloquent… In other words, it takes time and energy to have a deeply fulfilling lifestyle. For me that simply means going to see people and places even when I’m tired or don’t want to park or have to get up early etc. etc. etc. The excuses could pave an airstrip sometimes. But this weekend proved to me how these kinds of activities make any effort seem trivial. From family to friends to birdless (It’s November.) migratory bird preserves, I enjoyed so much life and love. Sappy? You bet your britches, commodore.
Even more fulfilling? This weekend also contained Christ the King Sunday. I’ll be honest – I was truly pissed that choir practice made me miss the first half of the cross processional. How dumb. The readings and hymns were beautiful. Nothing puts you in your place quite like realizing how glorified your Savior is. I’m going to take a page out of my pastor’s sermon and end on this last verse from the hymn Jerusalem the Golden. (Sing it to Thaxted.)
The Christ is ever with them; The daylight is serene.
The pastures of the blessed Are ever rich and green.
There is the throne of David; And there from care released,
The shout of them that triumph, The song of them that feast.
To God enthroned in glory The Church’s voices blend,
The Lamb forever blessed, The Light that knows no end.
Happy Thanksgiving, readers. You’re loved.
Yes, ma’am– that service rocked my socks, and definitely reset my perspective on life. I left with a welcome sense of calm, feeling grounded in Him, thankful, humbled, and awed all over again. Nice to glimpse you across the aisle as the cross recessed and know we’ll realize that song together in glory. Happy Thanksgiving indeed. 🙂
Beautiful moody Novembrrr tones in this photo set. Likin it.
