NI HAO
I live in China now. Please enjoy the first grouping of photographs I’ve taken in this place paired only with an accompanying list of observations.
- Hangzhou is very green with trees lining every street.
- The G20 made the city a ghost town, and now it feels very full.
- When first arriving in a foreign country, people with a strong knowledge of the country’s language are worth their weight in gold.
- I will never go hungry here.
- China only has one time zone.
- Bringing platform Teva sandals was a GOOD choice.
- Eating stinky tofu was a BAD choice.
- The height difference is not as drastic as I expected.
- Clear skies are not to be taken for granted.
- In the past week I’ve felt nearly the full range of my emotional capacity, but the most frequently felt emotion has been delighted amusement.
What do you mean by the G20 making it ghost like? Migration? or like rapid industrialization?

The government gave a lot of people paid leave for the G20 so the population wasn’t so intense. It seemed like over half the city was away on holiday for the first 5 or 6 days of being here. Lots of businesses and all schools were closed.
